Nanotechnology Research and Development
Nanotechnology research is a development area with innovations
in nanometer scale devices. This new area of technology is
currently receiving major funding and grants for innovations
within the federal government’s SR&ED and IRAP programs.
R&D Support
In addition, the federal and Alberta governments recently
sponsored the creation of a $120-million National Institute
for Nanotechnology at the University of Alberta, signaling
broad support for the field. The facility focuses on nanotechnology
research and development - a leading-edge, multidisciplinary
science that has profound impacts on applications ranging
from health care and optics to computer technology.
Edmonton's capabilities for innovations in nanotech started
several years ago when the University of Alberta's researchers
received joint funding through the Natural Sciences and Engineering
Research Council of Canada (NSERC) and Micralyne Inc. The
funding--the Micralyne/NSERC Industrial Research Chair--allowed
the University to create MicroFab, a unique nanotechnology
research and development lab.
TSGI Experience
TSGI, located in Calgary, Alberta, Canada currently has clients
in the field of nanotechnology research and development and
has filed SR&ED claims in this field.
